~!~ Dreams With Wings ~!~ An Article

Delhi...The Metropolitan city, capital of India, city of dreams for many.

Well you would say that we have heard Mumbai as the city of dreams, but Delhi as city of dreams ??

Yes, for many people Delhi is the city of dreams. Well, it is the city of dreams for those who come to delhi for their livelihood.

These people are mainly from the northern states where the opportunities are less or we can say  provide no wings for these people to fly in this harsh economic society.

This sunday I got a chance to be in Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk. I had some work that allowed me to stay in the Purani Delhi for 1 hour.

I was in the car only, waiting for my mother to finish her work. I parked my vehicle in front of a closed shop. I was optimistic that I had parked my vehicle at the right place as there seemed no chance of shop in the front of which I have parked my car, to open.

After 15 minutes, an autorickshaw stopped in front of my car. At first sight it seemed to be a normal scenario. But within seconds a man with around 5feet 3inch height, having a small tummy, in his thirties, stepped out and started putting his belongings out the stone slab which was placed along the shutter of the closed shop.

Till now which seemed to be normal case of a person leaving his hired pay taxi, now started getting quite interesting. Now the real act started. He first of all placed a white rectangular box on top of the stone slab, which seemed to be his over the counter table. Then he placed a box containing almost all the brands of gutkas / pan masala, then came the beetle leaves / pan. On the string that hung on the shop wall, he placed some sachets of a poular washing powder; it can be taken that the local people working in the nearby dhabbas or rickshaw pullers must be buying those washing powder sachets from him regularly.

Within five minutes his basic shop was set up. But wait something was still left. He then place a rod to the sockets attached to his white counter table. On that rod he placed a canope / large umbrella to provide him the shade. As I was just thinking of any other advantages of that big branded umbrella, it started raining. And thus the use of that umbrella was clear to me now.

Friends, after reading the above description you would be thinking that what new story I have narrated you. There is only one new thing in this incident and that is this man's DREAM.

Similar to this guy many people come to delhi in search of employment opportunities. Most of these people are illiterate and indulge in either physical works, such as carrying load or opening a pan cabin, many you can find on the traffic signals selling show pieces or books and find shelter generally on footpaths or railway stations.

These people have some dreams in their eyes when they come to this city from their home town; which often are small villages or districts, i.e they have to earn money in order to sustain their families which they have left back at their home.

Next time you see such a pan wala bhaiya, just spare a minute or even seconds to think about the dreams with wings that are ready to fly in the eyes of these people.

We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving. And we all have some power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.
